Pioneer Log House Program (Full and Half Sessions)

Museum Site Educational Programming

Become pioneer children for a morning, working with costumed demonstrators on daily chores-churning butter, baking cornbread, dipping candles, carding wool, weaving or other activities kids did around the farm. Experience hands-on how Arkansas pioneers met basic needs of food, clothing and shelter. This program takes place in an 1830s log house and explores rural living.

The half session is a one-hour version that focuses in depth on one topic only of pioneer living.

Tip: The half session was designed to allow schools to bring up to 60 children and adults for two hours. While half of the group is at the Log House, the other half is on the Self-Guided Tour of the Museum Center or the Guided Tour of Historic Homes. They switch at the end of the hour. The total cost for the full two hours will be the combined cost of both programs.
