Hands-on History Room
Please DO touch. An interactive activity center, the Hands-on History Room is filled with reproduction items. Museum educators present programs related to the featured exhibit. An example of a program is Packing to Go, in which students step into the shoes of a frontier traveler-horseman, slave, Cherokee or Scot-and decide, based on their character, what items to carry on their journey westward.
Tip: This program accompanies another program, usually the Self-Guided Tour of the Museum Center or the Guided Tour of Historic Homes. Plan for a two-hour visit, booking up to 90 students and adults. Half will do one program and half the other, switching at the end of the first hour. The total cost for the full two hours will be the combined cost of both programs.
